The father of missing child Spencer Mandela Nakale is pleading for assistance from private investigators to help locate his son, who vanished at Lüderitz in December 2020.
Spencer’s father, Nelson Nakale, said that despite his persistent efforts, including putting up posters and seeking monetary support for a thorough investigation, no significant leads have emerged.
Nakale said people come to him with different theories, and he stressed that every piece of information that comes forward is considered.
“There have been no new developments, but there are always people coming with different stories, and one cannot turn them back. Because every little story can be a lead, and it needs someone who is experienced to really take it,” said Nakale.
He said the impact on Spencer’s siblings, aged 8 and 10, who frequently ask about their missing brother.
Nakale is appealing to anyone who can help find Spencer to contact him.
He said he is prepared to share the limited information he has to follow up on potential leads.
“I’m just asking for assistance from anyone who can help me find Spencer to contact me, and I can give them the little information that I have so that we can follow up on the cases,” he said.
Even though the case is with the police, Nakale believes it requires special attention, citing the heavy workload and financial constraints the police face.
“It seems the police have so much work, or sometimes they will tell us they don’t have the financial support to go the extra mile and to do their work. That tells you that the case needs to be given special attention.”
Namibian police Karas regional commander commissioner Maruis Katamila said, “I am unfortunately out of the office and not in a position to give answers without acquainting myself with facts. I will only be in the office after two weeks. Please come back to me then.”
