Police in Tsumeb are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal accident on the B1 road between Tsumeb and Otavi, approximately 20 km out of Tsumeb, on Friday, 17 July 2026 at about 18:41.

According to the weekend crime report, a Volkswagen Jetta allegedly swerved off the road to avoid hitting a warthog and collided head‑on with a Volkswagen Polo.

A 37‑year‑old Namibian male was killed instantly on the spot, while other injured persons were transported to Tsumeb State Hospital for medical attention.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.

Police investigations into the incident continues.
