Old Mutual Foundation has opened applications for its revamped OM SEED: Seasons entrepreneurship programme, offering Namibian entrepreneurs across all 14 regions a chance to compete for cash prizes totalling N$130 000.

Applications opened on Friday, 9 October 2026, and will close on 30 October 2026. The 2026 edition introduces a unified national competition, replacing the programme’s previous approach of rolling out activities in individual regions sequentially.

The Old Mutual Sustainable Economic Empowerment Drive (OM SEED) was established to support grassroots businesses through training, mentorship and resources.

Mignon du Preez, Old Mutual Namibia’s group marketing, public affairs and sustainability executive, said the expanded programme recognises the different forms of entrepreneurship in the country.

“By expanding OM SEED to all 14 regions, we are creating opportunities for entrepreneurs wherever they are,” she said.

The competition has five categories targeting different types of businesses: SEED Level Up, SEED Green, SEED Play, SEED Made and SEED Manufacturing.

SEED Level Up targets youth-led start-ups, digital businesses and community ventures, with applications open to people aged 18 to 35.

SEED Green focuses on environmental sustainability, including recycling, green innovation and renewable energy, while SEED Play supports sports academies, fitness businesses and coaching services.

SEED Made targets creative industries such as fashion, film, music, photography and digital content creation.

SEED Manufacturing is aimed at artisans and businesses involved in woodworking, metal fabrication, engineering and food production.

Following the application deadline, the programme will select a Top 10 shortlist from across the categories and regions.

The shortlisted entrepreneurs will participate in a business development and incubation programme featuring mentorship and practical training.

Three national winners will ultimately be selected. The first-place winner will receive N$60 000, while the second- and third-place winners will receive N$40 000 and N$30 000 respectively.

The winners will also receive ongoing business support. The application window closes on 30 October 2026.
