The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa) has appointed a new board to provide strategic direction and governance oversight for the regulator.
Brian Masule will serve as chairperson of the board, while Selma Ambunda has been appointed deputy chairperson following her reappointment. Other members of the board are Veneranda Shoombe, Damoline Muruko and Jacob Nyambe.
Namfisa said the board will oversee the authority’s strategic direction, governance and the effective management of its affairs in the public interest.
The regulator said the board plays an important role in promoting financial stability, market integrity, consumer protection and sound governance within Namibia’s non-bank financial sector.
Namfisa also thanked the outgoing board members for their service and contributions during their tenure.
The outgoing board members are former chairperson Hettie Garbers-Kirsten, former vice chairperson Steve Katjiuanjo, Jacque Jansen and Nelao Shilongo-Alexander.
According to Namfisa, the outgoing board helped strengthen governance at the authority and supported the advancement of its regulatory mandate.
The regulator said it is confident that the new board’s leadership and experience will support the continued effectiveness and stability of the institution.
Namfisa added that it remains focused on implementing its strategic priorities, including the Financial Institutions and Markets Act (Fima), while maintaining strong governance and regulatory oversight.
