Ten unemployed young Namibians will receive free barbering training in Windhoek as Joe Fades Cut opens applications for the second intake of its youth skills-development programme.
The one-month fully funded programme, delivered through the Joe Fades Cut Foundation, will accept applications from 18 to 28 September 2026 and will train participants in barbering, customer service, professional conduct and basic business skills.
Joe Fades Cut founder Joel Mwatilefu said the initiative is part of the company’s commitment to investing in young people and giving back to the community.
“As a truly Namibian brand, we have grown because of the support we receive from our community. We believe that growth comes with a responsibility to give back, and one of the most meaningful ways we can do that is by investing in people and skills,” Mwatilefu said.
The training will combine theory with practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced professionals, with graduates able to seek employment or start their own barbering businesses.
“The objective is to train and empower them with a skill that they can use wherever they see an opportunity,” Mwatilefu said.
He said skills development could help young people pursue entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods instead of relying solely on formal employment.
“We believe that skills development can unlock independence, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods, particularly among young people seeking alternatives to formal employment,” Mwatilefu said.
