Activists Asprilla Gariseb and Michael Amushelelo have notified the Namibian Police Force of plans to hold a peaceful protest at the City of Windhoek offices on Saturday, 26 September 2026, over serviced land, municipal governance and service delivery.
The organisers delivered the notice on Thursday at 14h00, informing the Windhoek Police Station that residents and ratepayers would gather at 09h30.
The protest will focus on what the organisers describe as inadequate delivery of serviced residential land and the continued expansion of informal settlements.
They will also raise concerns about municipal finances, roads, refuse collection, sanitation, informal traders, pensioners, Build Together beneficiaries, municipal workers, Fitness Certificates and heavy-duty vehicle permit fees.
A petition containing their concerns and demands will be handed over to the City of Windhoek leadership.
“The purpose of the peaceful protest is to allow residents and ratepayers of the City of Windhoek to express their concerns regarding the state of affairs, governance, accountability and service delivery within the City of Windhoek,” they said.
The organisers said the gathering would be peaceful, orderly and unarmed and requested police cooperation during the protest.
