One person died on the spot while four others were injured after an Iveco bus ploughed into roadside vendors in Ondangwa on Tuesday afternoon.
Oshana Regional Police Commander Commissioner Andreas Shilelo confirmed the incident, saying one of the four injured victims are in critical condition.
The injured were rushed to hospital for medical treatment following the crash.
Shilelo said two stationary vehicles were also damaged when the bus crashed into the vendors.
“The bus driver escaped without injury and was taken for an alcohol test,” Shilelo said.
Police investigators have since visited the scene and are gathering information to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established, and police investigations are continuing.
“Further details will be made available in due course,” Shilelo said.
