Khorixas residents no longer need to travel to Outjo or Otjiwarongo for routine banking transactions, following the expansion of FNB Namibia’s local banking network.
What began in 2017 with just two merchants offering FNB Cashback and eWallet services has grown into a network of seven CashPlus agents and seven Cashback merchants across Khorixas.
The expansion means residents can now withdraw cash, make deposits, access eWallet services and conduct everyday banking transactions at multiple locations in town, including retailers such as Shoprite, Choppies, Caltex and NamCor.
According to FNB Namibia Area eBanker Modestu Ipangelwa, building trust and educating customers were key to changing banking habits in the town.
The initiative has also benefited the wider Khorixas economy, with more customers able to bank locally, increasing foot traffic at businesses and keeping more money circulating within the community.
“Financial inclusion happens when innovation meets trust, education, partnerships and consistent execution,” Ipangelwa said.
