Capricorn Group has announced the appointment of Tsaone Raboloko as managing director of Bank Gaborone, its banking subsidiary in Botswana, effective 9 October 2026, following the successful completion of the recruitment process and regulatory approval.

Bank Gaborone recorded N$113 million loss in the financial year ended 30 June. Capricorn Group has approved a N$96 million emergency capital facility for Bank Gaborone as it restructures the bank.

Raboloko has served as acting managing director since the end of June 2026. He joined Bank Gaborone in February 2018 as head of risk and compliance and was appointed chief financial officer in April 2022.

His experience across finance, risk and compliance, together with his deep knowledge of the bank, its people and the Botswana operating environment, provides a strong foundation for his leadership of the business

The appointment comes at an important stage in Bank Gaborone’s journey. The bank continues to navigate a challenging operating environment while implementing a strategic turnaround to strengthen the business and position it for sustainable performance.

The actions taken are already translating into overall positive change, providing a stronger platform for its next phase.

Commenting on the appointment, Capricorn Group CEO David Nuyoma said: “Tsaone Raboloko’s appointment provides valuable leadership continuity at an important time for Bank Gaborone. He has a strong understanding of the business and has been closely involved in the work underway to strengthen the Bank and improve its performance.”

Nuyoma added that Raboloko’s appointment reflected the group’s commitment to strong, locally grounded leadership across its operations.

“This appointment places an experienced leader at the helm of the Bank who understands both the local market and the wider Capricorn Group. We look forward to working with Tsaone Raboloko and the Bank Gaborone team as they continue strengthening the business and positioning it for a sustainable future.”
