The Namibian Police Force has recorded two murder cases over the weekend of 31 July to 2 August 2026, with investigations ongoing in Kavango West and Swakopmund.

In Ncamagoro, Kavango West Region, police arrested a 41-year-old Namibian woman after the body of a 22-year-old Angolan female domestic worker was discovered at Mile 30 village on Saturday.

According to the police report, the victim was allegedly killed in her room with an unknown object before the suspect allegedly set the room on fire to destroy evidence.

The matter has been registered as murder, arson and defeating the course of justice.

Police said the deceased’s next of kin had not yet been informed at the time of the report, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing continue.

In another incident, police are investigating the murder of 37-year-old Vatileni Jeremia Shinomwenyo in Mondesa, Swakopmund.

Shinomwenyo was discovered around 02h00 on Saturday at the entrance of Mondesa Police Barracks with a deep stab wound behind his right thigh.

Emergency personnel attended to him before he was rushed to Swakopmund State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said a suspect or person of interest has been detained in connection with the matter, while the deceased’s body was kept at Swakopmund State Hospital pending transportation to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for an autopsy.

The Namibian Police Force continues with investigations into both murder cases.
