NSX Overall Index rises 1.38% as property stocks lead gains

The Namibia Stock Exchange (NSX) Overall Index advanced 1.38% on Monday, 15 June, closing at 2,391.77 points, supported by gains in the financials, real estate and basic materials sectors.

The index rose by 32.65 points from the previous close of 2,359.13, leaving it 11.70% higher than its level at the end of December 2025.

During the year, the Overall Index has traded between a low of 2,070.30 points and a high of 2,408.59 points.

The NSX Local Index remained unchanged at 839.51 points, maintaining its year-to-date gain of 3.93%. The index offers an actual dividend yield of 9.60%.

Among the sector indices, real estate recorded the strongest daily performance, climbing 3.46% to 2,638.33 points from 2,550.18.

Despite the gain, the sector remains 2.31% below its level at the end of 2025.

The basic materials sector rose 1.78% to 890.66 points and continued to be the best-performing sector this year, posting a year-to-date gain of 24.49%.

Financial stocks also strengthened, with the financials index increasing 1.28% to 744.53 points, extending its gain since the start of the year to 4.33%.

The consumer discretionary index gained 0.97% to close at 2,630.82 points, although it remains 1.94% lower than its December 2025 level.

Consumer staples were the only sector to register a decline on the day, slipping 0.69% to 1,431.32 points. Even so, the sector remains up 8.52% year to date.

The telecommunications and utilities indices were unchanged at 303.49 and 1,084.09 points, respectively. Telecommunications have gained 1.35% since the start of the year, while utilities were down 2.11%.

Meanwhile, the FTSE/JSE All Share Index rose 2.51% to 115,556.19 points, gaining 2,834.92 points from the previous session.

Despite the daily increase, the index remains marginally lower than its December 2025 level, down 0.24% year to date.
