
Desert Air has confirmed that all four people aboard its missing aircraft died after the plane crashed in the Sossusvlei area.
According to Desert Air’s chief executive officer Willem de Wet, the wreckage was found at about 09h15 on Monday, with no survivors at the scene.
The aircraft had been reported missing a day earlier. De Wet expressed condolences to those affected by the tragedy.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families, friends and loved ones of the deceased,” he said.
He said all next of kin have been informed, while authorities remain involved following the discovery of the wreckage. De Wet said the crash is now under official investigation by the directorate of aircraft accident investigation.
“The accident is now under official investigation until such time as the investigation has been concluded and official findings have been released, we respectfully request that no speculation be made regarding the cause of the accident,” he said.
