NamRA extends tax filing deadline to end of August

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has extended the deadline for filing tax returns due on 30 June 2026 to 31 August 2026 as it continues to restore full functionality to its Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) following technical disruptions.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, NamRA said progress has been made in resolving the technical issues that have affected the tax administration platform since early June, although some functions remain impacted.

The revenue agency said key services that have been restored include the loading and reconciliation of bank statements, the restoration of the Taxpayer Amnesty Programme (TAP), the integration of ASYCUDA data, and cash office reconciliation at tills.

Despite these improvements, NamRA cautioned that some users may continue to experience intermittent system slowdowns and delays in processing certain tax returns while technical teams work to restore the platform to full functionality.

“In view of the affected pace of processing transactions on ITAS, the deadline for filing tax returns falling due 30 June 2026 has been extended to 31 August 2026,” the agency said.

NamRA also clarified that salary earners are not required to upload their PAYE certificates when submitting their tax returns, as the information is already pre-populated through returns submitted by employers.

However, taxpayers are required to verify that the tax amounts deducted by their employers are correctly reflected on Schedule 17 before submitting their returns.

The agency further reminded taxpayers claiming deductions for pension fund contributions, annuity contributions or study policy contributions that they must upload the relevant PAYE documentation obtained from their fund administrators when filing their returns.

NamRA apologised for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing technical issues and thanked taxpayers for their patience and understanding as efforts continue to fully restore the ITAS platform.
