A 27-year-old man was killed and another person seriously injured following an alleged stabbing incident at the Build Together suburb in Lüderitz during the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Johannes Lukas, a Namibian male.
According to preliminary police information, the incident occurred at approximately 02h30 on Saturday, when Lukas was allegedly stabbed in the chest and stomach with a knife.
He was reportedly in the company of another person, who also sustained severe injuries during the attack.
Police allege that an altercation erupted after Lukas allegedly threw a stone at a vehicle in which the suspect, his father and brothers were travelling as passengers.
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation and subsequent stabbing remain under investigation.
The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody.
Lukas’ next of kin have been informed.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 7 September, while police investigations continue.
