A 41-year-old woman accused of murdering her 22-year-old Angolan domestic worker and allegedly setting fire to the room where the body was found to conceal the crime has been denied bail.
Roide David made her first appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where she faces charges of murder, arson and defeating or obstructing the course of justice in connection with the death of Fernandu Christine Chipi at Mile 30 village in the Ncamagoro constituency, Kavango West.
The matter was postponed to 1 September 2026 to allow David to apply for legal aid and she remains in custody.
Ncamagoro constituency councillor Thomas Rengi condemned the incident, saying no dispute or jealousy could justify taking another person’s life. Authorities are also working to trace the deceased’s next of kin.
