Members of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) party rejected nominations for National Assembly seats for fear of losing their jobs.
This was revealed to the Windhoek Observer by the party’s spokesperson, Geroge Kambala on Tuesday.
“Some activists, especially in the private sector, are barred from engaging in politics by their bosses. Some were willing to participate, however, they had a fear of losing their jobs, which forced them not to participate, or reject the appointments,” he said.
He said their members are often intimidated and treated like step-children.
This, he said, is because they have been a proponent and champion of centralisation democracy.
“Wherever they find their voice. The red star shall find its rightful place in Namibians’ hearts. Remember AR exists in and outside of elections. Those voices they keep intimidating will one day put sand in their food and raid those fridges,” he said.
In 2020 Andemale Shikongo was discharged from the Marine Corps where he was a leading seaman of the Marine Corps for twelve years.
He stood as a local authority councillor candidate at Walvis Bay in the 2020 Local Authority elections.
The party held its elective assembly over the weekend at Otjiwarongo where they elected their 96 candidates for the 2025-2029 National Assembly.
