The Walvis Bay Municipality on Tuesday launched the Youth Climate Action Fund.
Walvis Bay mayor, Trevino Forbes said the municipality received N$1 million to distribute microgrants to fund youth-led climate initiatives as part of the programme.
This comes after Walvis Bay was selected to join Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins new youth climate action fund in April.
The fund is aimed at providing technical assistance, targeting young people between the ages of 15-24, to design, produce and provide climate solutions in their communities.
As a result of the N$1 million injection, the Walvis Bay Municipality has funded various projects in the community with more than N$250 000.
