The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) has announced the appointment of Fanuel Shinedima as its new chief executive officer, ushering in a new era of leadership for one of Namibia’s most prestigious youth-led organisations.
Shinedima, who has previously served as a director of the forum, returns to lead the organisation.
The appointment comes as the forum approaches its third anniversary, marking a period of institutional growth, strategic expansion, and increasing national visibility.
Shinedima has played a critical role in shaping the organisation into one of Namibia’s leading youth-led platforms dedicated to advancing youth participation, skills development, local content, entrepreneurship, and stakeholder engagement within the country’s evolving energy sector ever since joining NYEF’s leadership.
Shinedima is an accomplished Namibian energy professional with experience spanning stakeholder engagement, community relations, youth development, and strategic programme management.
His expertise covers Namibia’s emerging oil and gas industry, green hydrogen, local content development, energy transition, and broader energy sector opportunities.
His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening NYEF’s stakeholder relations and strategic partnerships, overseeing operations, driving programme development, and enhancing the forum’s organisational governance and administration.
Among his notable achievements is the successful expansion of NYEF’s footprint into the //Kharas Region through the establishment of the forum’s Lüderitz branch.
This move brought industry engagement and youth-focused programmes closer to communities at the heart of Namibia’s emerging oil and gas sector.
Under Shinedima’s guidance, NYEF has also experienced significant growth in its national team, partnerships, and programme offerings, positioning the organisation as a trusted convener between government, industry, educational institutions, communities, and young people.
Throughout his career, Shinedima has remained passionate about ensuring that Namibian youth are equipped with the knowledge, skills, networks, and opportunities required to actively participate in the country’s evolving energy sector.
According to a press statement released yesterday, Shinedima commented on his appointment, expressing gratitude and determination.
“I am deeply honoured by the confidence placed in me to lead the Namibia Youth Energy Forum into its next chapter. Over the past few years, we have laid a strong foundation, built meaningful partnerships, and demonstrated what is possible when young people are given a platform to lead. As Namibia’s energy sector continues to evolve, NYEF has an even greater responsibility to ensure that youth, local businesses, and communities are not left behind,” he said.
Shinedima added that the forum, working together with its board, management team, members, partners, and stakeholders, will continue to inform, empower, connect, and create opportunities for the next generation of energy leaders.
The board of NYEF has expressed full confidence in Shinedima’s leadership, citing his proven track record, strategic vision, dedication to youth development, and ability to build strong partnerships across both public and private sectors.
As the forum enters its third year of operation, it remains committed to expanding its national footprint, strengthening strategic partnerships, promoting youth participation across the energy value chain, advancing local content and SME development, supporting workforce readiness, and delivering impactful programmes that contribute to Namibia’s sustainable energy future.
The appointment of Shinedima reflects NYEF’s continued commitment to strong, visionary leadership.
It also highlights the organisation’s role as a vital platform for young Namibians to engage meaningfully in the energy sector.
By fostering skills development, entrepreneurship, and advocacy, NYEF is ensuring that the country’s youth are equipped to seize opportunities across Namibia’s evolving energy landscape.
With Shinedima at the helm, the Namibia Youth Energy Forum is ready to strengthen its role as a leading youth-led organisation in the energy sector.
His appointment marks not only a continuation of the forum’s growth but also a renewed commitment to ensuring that the youth participate in the country’s energy transition.
