40-year-old Kalista Gabriel died Friday evening at Okakoko village in the Omuthiya area after she was bump by a bakkie and run over by a SUV on a gravel road.
According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report both drivers were under the influence of alcohol.
‘’It is alleged that the driver of a Toyota pick-up bumped Kalista Gabriel, aged 40, Namibian female pedestrian who was walking on the gravel road. The deceased was again run over after she fell by Toyota Fortuner vehicle which was travelling behind the Toyota pick-up. Both drivers are licensed,’’ states the report.
The report further noted that both drivers have been arrested as police investigation continues.
In another incident on Friday at around 12h46 on Dr Hage Geingob Drive in Tsumeb the driver of a Blue Golf hatchback with two passengers bumped Hendrick Gauseb, 32, a Namibian male pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian died on the way to Tsumeb State Hospital after suffering head injuries and a fracture in his right leg.
The male Namibian driver, 24, was arrested and detained at Tsumeb Police Station.
