Namibia joined the rest of the world in observing World Population Day.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) executive director, Natalia Kanem, said that while the day is a moment to contemplate it is also the time to ask who is still uncounted for and why, and what this costs individuals and societies.
She said this in her statement on Thursday while observing World Population Day and added that global efforts not to leave anyone behind should be strengthened.
“It is a moment to ensure that our data systems capture the full range of human diversity so that everyone is seen, can exercise their human rights and can reach their full potential,” she said.
