As the festive season fills the air with joy and anticipation in Walvis Bay, Mayor Trevino Forbes has taken a moment to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year and extend warm wishes for a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season.
“The end of the year is a time for reflection and setting new goals for the future,” he said in his special message.
Despite the challenges that 2023 brought, Mayor Trevino Forbes expressed pride in the significant steps and milestones achieved in the coastal town. Some of the notable highlights include the successful relocation of the first residents to Farm 37 stands out as a significant development that promises to have a positive impact on the community.
The upgrade and re-routing of sewer lines in Sandwich Street and Mars Street are expected to improve sewerage flow in Kuisebmond, ultimately enhancing the living conditions of residents.
The initiation of a 24-hour Fire Emergency Service has reinforced safety measures within the community, ensuring that assistance is readily available at all times.
Walvis Bay proudly hosted the inaugural Maritime Festival, celebrating the vital role played by the maritime industry in driving Namibia’s economic growth and development.
Through the generosity of donors, an impressive N$ 919,850.00 was raised at the Mayoral Fundraising Gala Dinner, contributing to the betterment of the community.
Forbes was selected as a member of the Regional Mayors Forum of the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (Com SSA), a testament to the town’s commitment to regional collaboration and sustainability.
Expressing gratitude for being entrusted with the role of Mayor for a third consecutive year, Forbes extended appreciation to all individuals and institutions that have supported the mayor’s office in serving the community.
Forbes encouraged the community to approach the upcoming year with optimism and hope, emphasizing the importance of unity and responsibility. He wished all residents a peaceful and enjoyable festive season, reminding everyone to stay safe and responsible.
He reiterated that the Walvis Bay Town Council is united in its mission to serve the residents and looks forward to a successful 2024.
