The streets of Walvis Bay were lined with spectators on Saturday morning as the community united in a warm tribute to the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.

A motorcade procession travelled through Kuisebmond, the central business district, and Narraville, honouring the legacy of the revolutionary leader who played a fundamental role in Namibia’s eventual independence.

The tribute began with a briefing of police officers to ensure that the event proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner.

Residents and officials alike adhered to directives, allowing the motorcade to pass seamlessly through the town.

The atmosphere was one of deep admiration and gratitude, with many attendees visibly moved by the solemnity of the occasion.

According to one spectator, the motorcade, a striking display of unity and respect, concluded at Kuisebmond Stadium, where Erongo Regional Police Commissioner Nikolaus Kupembona expressed appreciation for the community’s participation.

“Today’s tribute is a reflection of our collective respect for Dr. Nujoma’s enduring contributions to our nation. It is heartening to see Walvis Bay standing together in remembrance of a leader who dedicated his life to our freedom,” he said.

The event was a demonstration of the community’s recognition of Dr Nujoma’s fundamental role in shaping Namibia’s independence and history.

As vehicles passed through the town, many onlookers waved Namibian flags and held up images of the former president, reinforcing their deep respect for his legacy.

The tribute was a moment of remembrance and a declaration of the values – unity, resilience, and national pride – that Nujoma championed in life.
