The United Democratic Front has pledged to revolutionise the education sector if it gains power in the November elections.
According to the party’s manifesto, the party aims to provide every Namibian with equal access to education, thereby ensuring job opportunities, entrepreneurship, and a better future for them.
The party further indicated that it would address the shortage of teachers.
This will be done by providing attractive packages as remuneration to teachers to enhance and increase their number countrywide, while at the same time increasing the standard of our education in Namibia.
“To effectively address the technical and vocational skills shortage in Namibia, it is essential to tailor our education system, particularly at the vocational training level, to meet the specific needs of different regions. Increasing funding for vocational training centres is crucial, as these institutions play a vital role in producing skilled artisans each year,” the party states in its manifesto.
The party also states that artisans significantly contribute to tackling unemployment by creating jobs for 4 to 5 employees per artisan, thereby fostering economic growth and stability in the community.
The UDF youth league’s secretary general, Reinhold #Goseb said his party will address the current challenges of education and ensure universally accessible, quality-free education to all Namibians is provided up to PHD level.
He added that the party also intends to build hostels to host learners while they are in school.
‘’Our party firmly believes that hostels will definitely be built, and our stance on education is straightforward: We want education to be free, encompassing not only tuition fees but also books and stationery,” he added.
He also said that they are planning to provide training to more rural, disadvantaged, and marginalised individuals in agricultural and allied activities to enhance productivity and bolster food security for our nation.
“Procedures to avail loans will be simplified, making them more affordable. We will create platforms in collaboration with financial institutions to raise awareness among the youth about accessing funds and loans,’’ #Goseb said.
