Two men were murdered while three other men sustained injuries in attempted murder incidents over the weekend, according to the police’s weekly crime report.
On Friday, at about 23h30, 23 years old Timoteus Ndiiluka Pius allegedly died on the spot after he was stabbed at Oshithashembungu village in Omusati region.
It is alleged that Pius, while on his way from Ondumbo location to his house ,realized that his cellphone was missing and went back to the shebeen.
“An argument erupted between the deceased and the suspect in connection with the cellphone and a fight broke out. In the process, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a knife once on the chest and the deceased died on the spot. The next of kin have been informed,” Nampol Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said.
Although the suspect initially fled the scene, he was arrested on Sunday morning and identified as an 18 years old man. Omusati Regional Commander Commissioner Ismael Basson said that the suspect will appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court today.
In a separate incident On Saturday, 33 years old Necius Tuhafeni, died at Oshakati state hospital after he was referred and admitted from the Tsumeb State hospital. He was reportedly assaulted between 28 February and 1 March at Kuvukiland location in Tsumeb. He, in the process sustained a head injury.
“He was rushed to Tsumeb state hospital and transferred to Oshakati state hospital for further medical treatment where he died on Saturday .The postmortem will determine the cause of death. Police investigations continue,” said Shikwambi.
Meanwhile on Saturday between 09h00 and 10h00, a 31 years old man was arrested for assaulting a 36 years old man at Karasburg.
The police said the suspect and victim were in a physical altercation and the suspect used and threw bricks several times on the victim’s head which in return caused injuries and bleeding.
“The argument was a result over money owed by the victim but not returned. The victim was referred to Katutura state hospital for medical treatment,” the police said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop magistrate’s court today.
In another incident on Sunday, at about 03h00, a 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed with a knife in Lüderitz.
The victim and suspect are said to have been together prior to an argument that led the suspect stabbing the victim several times on the stomach, shoulders and on the back.
The victim was rushed to hospital and later transferred to Keetmanshoop district hospital for further treatment.
Police investigations continue.
Furthermore, on the same day at about 23h30, a 20 years old man was allegedly shot and injured in Windhoek.
It’s alleged that he was shot close range on the right arm by the suspect.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Otjomuise Police Station as police investigations continue.
