Namibia recorded 48 deaths and 211 injuries from 112 truck involved crashes nationwide by 16 September 2026, with Erongo and Otjozondjupa accounting for about 60% of all fatalities.
According to the MVA Fund data, Erongo recorded the highest number of truck crashes at 30, resulting in 15 deaths, while Khomas recorded 21 crashes and the highest number of injuries at 59.
Otjozondjupa recorded 14 crashes, 36 injuries and 14 fatalities, making it one of the regions with the most severe outcomes.
Combined, Erongo and Otjozondjupa recorded 29 of the 48 fatalities reported during the period.
Collisions remained the dominant type of truck related crash, accounting for 57 crashes, 157 injuries and 37 deaths.
Pedestrians were also significantly affected, with 24 pedestrian related crashes resulting in 17 injuries and 10 fatalities.
In contrast, 11 rollover crashes were recorded, resulting in 14 injuries but no fatalities.
The MVA Fund data further show that collisions accounted for approximately 77% of all injuries and fatalities, highlighting the severity of crashes involving heavy vehicles.
Meanwhile, Kavango West, Ohangwena, Omusati and Oshikoto recorded no truck related fatalities during the reporting period.
