Team Namibia dominates Africa Aquatic Swimming Championship

Team Namibia excelled at the Africa Aquatic Swimming Championship held at the Olympia swimming pool in Windhoek, finishing with an impressive 106 medals and scoring 2 758 points.

The tournament which started on Wednesday and ended on Sunday, saw teams of both boys and girls winning 26 gold medals, 46 silver medals and 34 bronze medals.

Even though team South Africa finished the tournament as the highest-ranked nation for winning more gold medals, the team only managed to win 84 medals overall. South Africa scored 1 765 points throughout the tournament, which earned them 50 gold medals, 24 silver medals and 10 bronze medals.

Mozambique’s Swimming Team finished the tournament in third position with 24 gold medals, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals. The Namibia Masters team finished with 12 gold medals, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Zimbabwe’s Swimming Federation got 11 gold medals, 17 silver and 16 bronze medals, while team Zambia managed to get 7 gold medals, 7 silver and 17 bronze medals.

The Angolan team won 7 gold medals, 3 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Other countries that participated are Mauritius who managed to win 4 gold medals, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Followed by Eswatini Swimming Association with 4 gold medals, no silver and 4 bronze medals, Seychelles Aquatic Federation won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal while Madagascar Aquatics got 2 gold medals, 4 silver and 4 bronze.

Uganda’s swimming team managed to get 1 gold medal, 3 silver and 3 bronze while Botswana did not win any gold but managed to win 6 silver medals and 11 bronze medals, with Malawi Aquatic Union finishing last with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
