‘Rushed’ genocide deal questioned

Kandjemuni Kamuiiri Concerns have been raised around the agreement reached between Namibia and Germany over the Nama and Ovaherero genocide reparations. This is amid concerns the imminent deal was rushed and might not come out in the best interest of Namibia after almost six years of negotiations. Kandjemuni Kamuiiri Five months later the Ovaherero and Nama people are still to appeal last September’s US Court’s ruling which refused to hear their case against the German government citing lack of jurisdiction over the matter. The two tribes had approached the US Courts in pursuit of genocide reparations against the German government.
