A 35-year-old man is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate court on tomorrow after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a plier on the head leading to her death.
The incident according to Omusati Regional Crime Coordinator Mosses Simao was reported to the Ruacana Police Station on Monday 16 January 2023 at about 18H00 after it occurred at Gwashikololo village, Ruacana Constituency, Omusati region the same day.
Simao says that a fight allegedly erupted between the couple inside the suspect’s sleeping room which resulted in the boyfriend assaulting the victim with a plier multiple times on the head and the victim died on the spot.
The suspect then fled the scene and only surrendered himself to Oshifo police station, earlier today.
He faces a charge of murder read with the Domestic Violence Act of 2004.
The deceased is identified as Evone Fillipus, a Namibian Female of 25 years old . ID no: 97020201245 from the house of David Sackeus, Gwashikololo Village, Ruacana Constituency , Omusati region .
The murder weapon is under the police custodian and the deceased’s body is being kept at the Oshifo police mortuary to be further transported to Okahao Forensic pathology for post-mortem. Police investigations are still ongoing in the matter.
