A 38-year-old man who is accused of having raped the daughter of his girlfriend repeated between 2018 and 2019 has been denied bail after making his first court appearance in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court.
Oshana Nampol spokesperson Inspector Thomas Aiyambo says the suspect, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity was only arrested on Tuesday, when the victim, aged 10 reported the rape, after attending a Life Skills class at school. The suspect would allegedly rape the victim at night when her mother, a nurse would leave for night shift.
Aiyambo also said that the rape incidents happened at the Eheke village. The couple was cohabitating at Ekuku, in Oshakati.
“Preliminary investigations highlighted that the suspect knew the victim very well as he has a child of 8 years old with the victim’s mother. Although they are not married, he lived in the woman’s house. The man apparently used to threaten the victim, that she will be in jail if she happens to tell anyone,” Aiyambo stated.
