The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) has in the strongest terms repeated its resolute stance against homosexuality and all that the agenda of gender identity politics entails.
Ephraim Nekongo, the Secretary of SPYL went as far as to call on the Namibian Government to strengthen the country’s legal instruments to combat the destructive agenda of gender identity politics.
Nekongo’s outrage follows in the wake of the arrest of a Gobabis municipal councillors arrest in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old boy.
The Namibian Police Force reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the victim visited the Omaheke Regional Governor’s office to obtain essential documents where he encountered the suspect.
The suspect, who was attending a meeting at the Governor’s office, instructed the victim to follow him to a restroom within the building where he undressed the boy and subsequently had oral and anal sex with him.
After the incident the victim reported the matter to a family member and a case was subsequently opened at the Gobabis police station.
“SPYL has taken note of the arrest of its member who also serves as a councillor in the municipality of Gobabis, following allegations of rape. Consequent to the arrest of the accused SPYLD member by the Namibian Police Force in the Omaheke Region, we condemn the despicable and outrageous acts of sexual assault in the strongest possible terms,” Nekongo stated.
He added that during this time of adversity, the SPYL stands with the victim and his family.
“We are ready to offer unconditional support to him,” he said.
Nekongo beseeched all SPYL members and public representatives to demonstrate the highest level of ethical conduct, exemplary leadership and morality that is befitting of a member of the youth league.
