The Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Services has warned young people to be cautious of scammers promising job opportunities in the ministry’s name.

In a statement issued this week, the ministry explained that scammers are targeting young people by sharing a link containing false information about an internship programme allegedly offered by the ministry.

“The Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Services has noted with concern the targeting of young people on social media platforms by scammers using fraudulently claiming to represent this ministry,” said the ministry.

According to the ministry, the scammers are posting claims of offering a one-year internship programme at various locations, including Windhoek, Katima Mulilo, Rundu, Divundu, Oshakati, Khorixas, and Otjinene.

“The scammers are using the statement “I have applied and got mine” directing individuals to click on a link. The ministry wishes to clarify that all official internship vacancies for the ministry ended on 31 December 2024. Therefore, this claim of internship program 2025 is false. The public is strongly cautioned to refrain from clicking on the link or engaging in these fraudulent posts,” warned the ministry.

The ministry further advised young people to exercise caution and avoid providing any personnel or banking information in response to unsolicited requests.
