When one looks at the situation at mighty institutions like Pirates Namibia, B.A and Kaizer Chiefs there is a common denominator, and that is division caused by certain individuals, their ego,agenda ,self-interest, lack of understanding ,arrogance, entitlement ,greed and conduct .
The Lord has said ” Every Kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand “( Mathew 12:25) A great lesson to be learned in life is to live in harmony with others , I don’t claim monopoly over wisdom or know how over everything ,but I know for as long as Orlando Pirates FC is ran the way it is currently going end of this season they’ll be relegated .
Not because of the playing personal,but like Kaizer Chiefs and B.
A last season it’s leadership crises and lack of unity .Putting money in a club and doing as you please is not leadership, not listening to advise because you played all your life at one club is not leadership, and doing as you please just cause it’s your fathers team is not leadership.
Leadership listens ,Leadership works together, Leadership introspects ,leadership accepts their mistake and leadership corrects ,this clubs must maybe take the example of Real Madrid SC and Barcelona who’s Presidents are decided by collective “vote” of fans through referendum, People like Ou Lemmy & Kaizer Motoung must be lifelong honorary Presidents who must enjoy the privilege to be listened to , Legends who suffer from “delusion” must be humbled and told this teams were there before them and will be there after them.
This are major “Brands” ,this are clubs rich in football history ,to see few people hold this clubs “hostage” is rather painful one guy at an Orlando Pirates meeting streamed on FB was saying this things of paid up members and unpaid members brought the whole problem and division.
I agree clubs must self correct and realize some people will go to every game ,others will buy replica if availed others will make monthly contributions, there are fans supporters and members if you want an effectively operating model for the club find a way to maximize and respect all this people .( Ask African Stars) they are doing it .
Just package the brand correctly and it will work, ofcourse people who invest in clubs must be acknowledged but let them have a clear Governance model before being allowed authority ,and let that also be for “5 year terms” , or else we risk this clubs also going in obscurity .
If you can’t work alongside people and leave your ego at home you have no business being at the forefront of these kinds of Institutions that belong to thousands of people .
The power of these clubs is vested in the people together, not individuals.
On that note I hope Orlando Pirates doesn’t get relegated because next season we will have our Derby ,We are just fixing things we will be back in the flagship league next season .
