Former Namibian Football Association (NFA) General Secretary, Charles Siyauya was laid to rest on Tuesday at his home village of Bukalo in the Zambezi region.
Siyauya passed away on 3 March after a short illness at a local hospital in Windhoek.
He had begun feeling unwell during a meeting with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) officials and the NFA Executive Council on 2 March.
Despite receiving permission to seek medical treatment, he passed away the next morning.
During the first memorial service, NFA President Robert Shimooshili paid tribute to Siyauya’s significant contributions to Namibian football.
Shimooshili noted that Siyauya had served as General Secretary since 1 April 2024 and played a crucial role in supporting the Executive Council to drive the growth and development of Namibian football at local, regional, and international levels.
“Siyauya played a pivotal role in implementing the strategic initiatives of the Executive Council. His commitment and passion to advancing Namibian football will be sorely missed,” Shimooshili said.
Siyauya is survived by his mother, Chaze Musialike, one son, three daughters, brothers, sisters, colleagues at the Football House, and football lovers across Namibia, COSAFA, CAF, and FIFA.
His passing has left a void in Namibian football, with many mourning the loss of a dedicated and passionate leader.
