The Namibian police in the Erongo region are investigating a case of the illegal discharge of a firearm in a municipal area.
A video clip scene by the Windhoek Observer shows two men fighting outside the Salt nightclub in Swakopmund over the weekend where one of the participants fired several shots with a handgun, revealing the seedy underbelly of Swakopmund at night.
According to the police report, three unknown German-speaking men approached the woman and began assaulting her, with fists and kicking her until she collapsed.
“When her husband and a friend attempted to intervene, the assailants turned on them as well. Despite their efforts, the attackers continued their assault on the woman,” reads the report.
The report also states that the husband managed to break free and retrieve a pistol from his vehicle.
He fired several shots into the air.
The German-speaking men fled the scene in a car shortly after the fight.
The video, which is believed to have been taken during the early hours of Saturday morning, shows two men fighting and a woman confronting one of the men.
One of the men, who spoke German, tried to get rid of the woman who was distracting him from fighting.
He pushed her whereafter she fell to the ground.
When she got back to her feet, she confronted the same individual before another man who appeared to be related to her got onto the scene brandishing a handgun.
The gun-toting man repeatedly pointed the weapon at the German-speaking man and thereafter fired several shots over his head.
“Raak haar weer (touch her again,” the man was shouting in Afrikaans.
The shooter again physically attacked the other German-speaking man while bystanders tried to intervene.
The video ends where the physical altercation between the two men resumed.
Murder cases are reported almost every week by the Namibian Police and in most cases, alcohol plays a substantial role in the indifference to human life.
According to bystanders, the woman was heavily intoxicated and she started a fight inside the club after the shooter in the video interacted with several younger women as the night progressed.
An altercation between her and an unknown person inside the club resulted in her sustaining serious injuries to her face which needed surgery in a Windhoek hospital.
It is also understood the shooter broke bones in one hand and cracked bones in his other hand.
The state of the German-speaking participant seen in the video during the fight is not known yet.
