Shipi FM celebrates excellence

Shipi FM held its first-ever awards ceremony to honour the contributions of its employees, listeners, and key stakeholders.

The inaugural Shipi FM Recognition Awards, held in Ondangwa on Saturday, celebrated the individuals and businesses that have significantly contributed to the station’s growth and impact.

The governor of Oshana Region, Elia Irimari expressed his pride in the station’s achievements, acknowledging its growing influence in the region.

“Shipi FM has played a critical role in shaping the media landscape of the Oshana Region. I am proud to witness its success and look forward to seeing even greater impact in the future,” he said.

Shipi FM’s Executive Chairman, Martin Kaali Shipanga, emphasized the importance of recognizing the station’s stakeholders.

“These awards serve as a testament to the hard work and dedication of our presenters, listeners, businesses, and artists. We are excited to build on this success and make this event even bigger in the years to come,” he said.

Key sponsors, including Indongo Group, MTC, and Classic Sports Betting, made the event possible. MTC sponsored three awards, Classic Sports Betting supported one, and Indongo Group contributed to another.

Shipi FM itself sponsored a total of 13 awards, ensuring recognition across a broad spectrum of categories.

Among the evening’s awardees, Bby Gal Mariina was honoured with the Chairman’s Award for Best Shipi FM Presenter, receiving a cash prize of N$7,000. Kuku Shikololo was named the Most Improved Presenter, while DJ Quality and Mee Nuutoye – Hellen The DJ were recognized as Favorite Male and Female Presenters, respectively.

Other significant awards were presented to top listeners, including Paulus Silas Kamawe, who received recognition as the Best Shipi FM Listener & Participant, and Dee Life Swakop and Etuhole Saara Ondangwa, who took home Public Choice Awards in the male and female listener categories.

Shipi FM also acknowledged the businesses that have supported the station’s growth, with Stadio Namibia and Oshana Optics receiving awards for their contributions, including one month of free advertising.

Artists were also celebrated, with King Mex and Latoya Stella being recognized as Upcoming Male and Female Artists, respectively. Other honorees included Tate Meke for Gospel & Choir, D Kandjafa for Favorite Album (Mr. Black Card), and Kangwe Son for Favorite Song (Ndikufepo Episode 3).

The Shipi FM Recognition Awards showcased the incredible talent, dedication, and support that have helped the station flourish.

The success of this inaugural event signals the beginning of what promises to be a long-standing tradition, further cementing Shipi FM’s role as a driving force in Namibia’s community radio landscape.
