Seven suspects were arrested over the weekend for possession of illicit drugs and alcohol.
The police in Keetmanshoop arrested a security guard after he was found with a bag of cannabis.
The suspect, a Southern Security employee, was arrested after he was visiting a trial awaiting prisoner and that he handed the incarcerated person a newspaper which contained in its folds, an okapi knife.
“After he was arrested a search was conducted on the suspect. He was found in possession of a bag of cannabis,” the Weekend Crime Report provided by the Public Relations Division of NamPol stated.
In a separate incident, at the Tses Village in the //Karas Region members of the Namibian Police arrested three suspects, ranging between the ages of 25 to 60 when they were found in possession of cannabis.
“It is alleged that three arrested suspects, were found in possession of eight big ballies of cannabis and one medium-sized ballie of cannabis,” read the report.
The Police could not determine the value of the illicit drugs yet.
The suspects will appear before the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today on charges of possession and dealing in illicit drugs.
Moreover, three male suspects between the ages of 28 to 54 were arrested on Friday after they were found in possession of 54 boxes of Angolan Best whisky and eight boxes of Yes cigarettes.
The combined value of the illicit substance is estimated at N$ N$94 000.
