The youth in the Otjjinene constituency of the Omaheke Region say the San community in their constituency is neglected and not valued.
The youth are also claiming that not a single person from the San community has been employed since 2017.
These were submissions and recommendations that were made by community members last year during an engagement with the Chairperson of the National Council (NC), Lukas Sinimbo Muha on the work of the National Council and Parliament at large.
The chairperson’s outreach programme is designed to spread awareness and educate members of the public about the law-making process and how they can participate.
As such, Muha and his delegation, which included the secretary to the National Council, Advocate Tousy Namiseb conducted public engagements with various communities last year October.
According to Muha’s report on the engagement, community members questioned the marginalized office on why many learners from the San community are dropping out of school.
The leader of the San community in the region Chief Frederick Langman of the #Kao //Aesi Traditional Authority during a courtesy call with Muha, expressed displeasure at what he termed inhumane treatment his subjects who were resettled on Farm Skoonheid have been receiving from the government.
In addition, the report states that C. Ngatizeko Primary School is without a school hall.
“The delegation visited C. Ngatizeko Primary School where awareness of the existence and the role of the National Council particular and Parliament, in general, was presented. A tour of the school including the hostel was undertaken. The school principal highlighted the absence of a school hall at the school,” he stated.
Moreover, it states that the Otjinene Youth office does not host any youth programs or activities.
“The Harambee Prosperity Plan 121 Youth enterprise for Otjinene constituency is not yet realized,” read the report.
