Three boys, aged between 13 and 12 years old are facing charges of rape, after they allegedly raped a six year old girl on Friday.
The suspects, two grade seven learners and a grade six learner are yet to be arrested. Police in Oshikoto region say the victim is a grade one learner. The rape incident is alleged to have happened at the flats where the victim and the suspects reside.
“It is alleged that all the suspects and the victim were playing together around the complex in which they reside. The suspects lured the victim behind one the houses under the pretense that they were going to take her to one of her friends there. Upon arrival, they forced themselves on her,” said the Oshikoto police Regional Commander, Commissioner Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku.
On the same day, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man at Iilagati village in Oshana region.
According to Oshana police Head of Investigations, Deputy Commissioner Theophilus Kamati the incident happened in the child’s mothers room where she was reading her school books.
“It’s alleged that the suspect came into the complainant’s house and found the victim busy reading her school books in her mother’s sleeping room. He then grabbed the victim on her left arm and threw her on the bed, before undressing the victim and raping her,” he said.
The suspect has been arrested.
Meanwhile, at Nkurenkuru on Friday, Nauyoma Leevi Mandema (25) was stabbed with a knife and died at Kangenya liquor outlets.
According Nampol Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, a 29 year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the death.
“It’s alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim with a pocket knife on the left side of the chest and the victim succumbed to injuries on the spot. The incident took place in Nkurenkuru town and the cause of the debacle is unknown,” she said.
Police investigations have commenced in the matter.
Moreover, on the same day, 27 year-old, Raina Shihepo was killed with a knife by an 18 year- old suspect, at Okadhiya cuca shop, in Oshikoto region. It’s alleged that the suspect stabbed Shihepo with an Okapi knife on the back, causing the death.
It is further reported that Shihepo was employed as a bar lady at one of the cuca shops, while the suspect is a domestic worker at a neighboring village.
Police investigations continue and the suspect has been arrested.
