The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) mourns its Member, Councillor, and the Deputy Mayor of Uusakos Town Council, Aletta Katiti Sem, who recently passed on.
Sem was taken to the Usakos State Hospital on Sunday after she complained of chest pains during a church service. She died four hours later.
Apart from the Mayoral position, Sem also served within the ranks of the PDM as the Acting Karibib Constituency Coordinator and the Women’s League Interim Chairperson.
PDM President, McHenry Venaani, yesterday described the late Sem as an extraordinary individual whose unwavering commitment and tireless efforts played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Movement.
He said that Sem’s departure from this world has left an indescribable void within the movement.
“Her passion for progress, her relentless dedication, and her unwavering spirit made her an invaluable asset to the cause. She was an inspiration to all and a shining example of what it means to be a true party member. Her significant contributions to the Regional Committee of Usakos will forever be etched in our memories,” Venaani stated.
He said whether it was organizing grassroots campaigns, championing the voices of the underrepresented, or leading with unwavering determination, Councillor Sem embodied the very essence of the movement’s ideals.
On behalf of PDM, Venaani extended his deepest sympathies to Councillor Sem’s family.
“May the family find solace in the knowledge that their loved one made a significant impact on the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered with the utmost admiration and gratitude,” he sympathized.
Venaani urged all bereaved to draw strength from the teachings of the Holy Scriptures. Psalm 9:9, states that “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
“In times of loss, we find solace in the comforting words of the Bible. May this serve as a beacon of hope and strength for Councillor Sem’s family, the community of Usakos, and all those who mourn her passing,” Venaani commiserated.
Meanwhile, Usakos Town Council Mayor, Irene Simeon-Kurtz, described Sem as a hardworking woman, and a great Councillor who was dedicated to her job, a woman dedicated to the community.
Sem is survived by her husband and children.
The Council is yet to announce the day she will be laid to rest.
