The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president, Mchenry Venaani, says the recent South African elections served as a beacon of hope in gunning for votes.
Venaani made this statement over the weekend during its mega rally in Opuwo.
“Look to our neighbours in South Africa, where the recent election has shown us a beacon of hope. The ANC’s dwindling support, coupled with the rise of opposition voices, demonstrates a clear desire for change among the electorate, with the governing ANC recording only 40.18% of the vote.
“South Africa has done it, and now it is up to us to do the same. The only difference is that we must bring the ruling SWAPO Party to even less than 40%, and it is possible! We, too, can achieve such a feat here in Namibia.
The path has been paved, the momentum is building, and it is now our duty to seize this opportunity for a brighter future,” said Venaani.
Venaani said that people are heralding the upcoming election as one of the most significant in the nation’s history, echoing sentiments of change and progress that resonate across borders.
He argued that dislodging the Swapo party is only possible if everyone goes and registers to receive the new voter cards.
He is therefore urging everyone to heed the call to action as the Electoral Commission of Namibia embarks on the voter registration drive.
“Let us not falter in our responsibility to participate in shaping our nation’s future. It is only through the power of our votes that we can usher in the change we so desperately seek,” he urged.
Venaani also disclosed that the party’s soon-to-be-unveiled manifesto reflects their steadfast dedication to the Namibian people.
From tackling unemployment and housing shortages to revitalising healthcare and education systems, he said PDM’s vision for a brighter future is bold, comprehensive, and achievable.
The PDM leader believes that under its governance, agriculture will flourish, housing will become a fundamental right, and healthcare will be accessible to all.
He called on Namibians to seize this moment, embrace this opportunity, and join PDM in ushering in a new era of progress, development, and promise for the nation because Namibia’s future rests in the hands of all citizens.
