Police in the Omusati Region have reported that a pastor, who also owns a church at the Okandi village, has allegedly raped two girls and a woman between 9 February and 24 February this year.

The pastor allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman from Onheleiwa village on the 09 February, and the 19-year-old girl from Onghuwo village was raped on 16 February while the 17-year-old girl from Onepandaulo village was raped on the 24 February by the same pastor this year.

Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Ishmael Basson said all the alleged rapes happened at another person’s house identified as Elikan Neliwa.

“It is alleged that the suspect, who is the pastor and owner of the church that the complainants attend, had sexual intercourse with the complainants without their consent. No domestic violence or alcohol were involved,” said Basson.

In a separate case, a 38-year-old cattle herder who allegedly raped a five-year-old girl last weekend at Onaanda village was refused bail by the Outapi Magistrate court. Bonafatuis Iipinge Mbwale was out on bail of N$1,000 for allegedly raping another girl aged 14 years in 2020.

It’s alleged that Mbwale was looking after the animals together with the victim near their house and he removed the victim’s clothes and ordered her to lie down on the ground.

“He then removed his trouser and inserted his penis into the victim’s vagina and had sexual intercourse with the minor without her consent,” said Basson.
