Paragon Media through through its Observer Weekend publication will be launching the Women of Power series on 28 April 2023. The launch is a precursor for the Women of Power Conference and Awards Ceremony slated for 2024.
The Observer Weekend has been featuring a “Women of Power” segment every Sunday in the Observer Weekend E-paper since February this year.
According to the Executive Director of Paragon Media, Lazarus Jacobs, the purpose of the Conference is to celebrate women who are making a difference in their communities and nationally.
“These women are, Disrupters, Unrecognized change makers.”
He further stated that the event is part of Paragon Media’s strategic vision to give women a larger voice in media.
“Women are major players in the national discourse but they don’t get enough media coverage or fair recognition for what they do. Paragon Media, through this initiative would like to use its space and platform to address that anomaly,”Jacobs said.
Jacobs says that one would notice in the profiles covered by Observer Weekend, “The women featured are active with projects and other initiatives, either in their professional endeavors and or additional efforts to grow their respective communities.”
He added that the purpose is to celebrate women who are making a difference in their communities and nationally.
The launch event is only open to 40 invited guests, including some of the women featured already, key media stake holders and members of the corporate frathernity.
However, the event will be live-streamed on the social media platforms of the Windhoek Observer, he said.
The Windhoek Observer newspaper through its Observer Weekend edition will feature these women weekly to highlight the good work they are doing, he added.
“It will remain an integral part of Windhoek Observer newspaper and part of Paragon Media’s products.”
Jacobs stated that corporate companies who would like to be part of the initiative are invited to contact the Windhoek Observer for advertising and sponsorship purposes.
He stressed that so far, Paragon Media is the only sponsor, “but sponsors who want to participate are more than welcome.”
