The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) has announced that 100 students will receive free access to the Introduction to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (InSTEM) bridging course at its Eenhana and Lüderitz campuses.
Additionally, 30 students will be awarded spots in the Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management Honours program.
Ten students will receive scholarships for the Master of Sustainable Energy Systems at the Lüderitz campus.
This was said in a statement issued on Monday by the NUST manager for corporate engagement and marketing, Kuda Brandt.
“The funding opportunity is a direct investment into our communities to better the lives of 140 students,” said Brandt.
According to her, this initiative is a move to expand access to quality education nationwide.
NUST students who have already registered have the opportunity to relocate to Eenhana or Lüderitz to be refunded their registration and tuition fees.
The Eenhana campus seeks to extend educational opportunities to rural communities, making higher education more accessible and affordable.
The Lüderitz campus focuses on delivering industry-relevant education to the coastal region, particularly in sectors like energy sustainability, logistics, and marine engineering.
Following the extension of registration across all campuses to 21 February, NUST encourages all prospective students to visit the campuses and regional centres to register.
An InSTEM student at NUST’s Windhoek campus, Tehuti Billawer, welcomed the initiative.
“I feel like it’s good for the people who haven’t had any place yet. Since it’s for free, it’s a great opportunity for them,” said Billawer.
