Nurse ordered to pay costs in defamation case

The Windhoek High Court yesterday ordered a nurse from northern Namibia to pay the legal costs of businessman Shapwa Kanyama and his wife Beata Kanyama.
The order follows a defamation lawsuit against Mathilde Kadhikwa.
The Kanyama couple is suing Kadhikwa for N$400 000 over remarks made on social media on 30 May 2022.
These remarks came days after the couple’s N$10 million wedding on 27 May 2022 in Oniipa, Oshikoto region.
Earlier this year Kadhikwa summoned the minister of health Kalumbi Shangula and his executive director Ben Nangombe to testify.
Shangula is excused from attendance, but Nangombe must attend court on 17 July.
The case is postponed to 17 July 2024 for trial.
