NTN extends audition deadline for Blended Voices Choral competition

The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) has announced an extension for auditions for the Blended Voices – A Namibian Choral Celebration competition, giving choirs across the country more time to participate.

The audition deadline has been pushed to 26 February, while the competition itself has been rescheduled to 26 April.

This national choral event offers choirs the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete for a grand prize of N$50,000. NTN aims to provide a platform for choirs to explore and reinterpret Namibian music, blending traditional and contemporary styles.

According to NTN Public Relations Officer Desiree Mentor, the competition is more than just a showcase of talent—it is a celebration of Namibian musical heritage.

“Blended Voices is designed to highlight the diversity of our country’s choral music and give choirs a chance to perform innovative arrangements of Namibian songs,” she said.

The competition will feature five top choirs, selected through an audition process, who will advance to perform in three rounds.

A panel of external choral music experts will judge the performances based on criteria such as intonation, diction, technique, and overall musicality.

Mentor emphasised the importance of the competition in elevating Namibian choirs.

“This event provides a platform for artistic growth, helping choirs gain recognition and further develop their musical skills,” she said.

NTN is encouraging choirs from all regions to take advantage of the extended deadline and submit their audition videos.

“We want to ensure that as many choirs as possible get the opportunity to be part of this incredible celebration of music,” Mentor added.

To audition, choirs must submit a three-minute video via WhatsApp to +264 81 366 2133 before February 26, 2025.
