The Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX) recorded a total trading value of N$115.3 million during the week from 3 to 7 August, with 1.89 million shares changing hands across 97 deals.
The latest weekly market statistics show that the overall NSX market recorded 2.01 million shares traded, while the reporting-period change amounted to 1.26 million shares and N$106.5 million in traded value across 66 deals.
The financial sector accounted for the largest share of trading activity during the week, recording 1.43 million shares traded with a value of N$91.59 million across 61 deals.
Real estate stocks were the second-largest contributor by value, with 568 294 shares traded for N$10.19 million through 16 deals.
Consumer staples recorded 28 628 shares traded, valued at N$8.19 million across seven deals, while basic materials recorded 5,937 shares worth N$5.10 million through eight deals.
Local listings recorded 626 285 shares traded at a value of N$8.80 million through 31 deals during the reporting period.
Local market activity year-to-date stood at 10.36 million shares traded, with a total value of N$197.89 million across 839 deals.
The consumer discretionary sector recorded 4 950 shares traded for N$264 668 through three deals.
There was no trading recorded in the telecommunications or utilities sectors during the week, although the telecommunications sector had a free-float market capitalisation of N$4.05 million, while utilities stood at N$769 000.
For the year to date, the NSX overall market recorded 78.48 million shares traded, with a total value of N$4.90 billion across 3 018 deals.
Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) added 2.58 million shares in year-to-date trading, valued at N$517.64 million across 164 deals.
The Development Capital Board (DevX) recorded 617 595 shares traded year-to-date, with a value of N$21.66 million through 35 deals.
Combined year-to-date activity across the NSX overall market, ETPs and DevX amounted to 81.68 million shares traded, with a total value of N$5.44 billion across 3 217 deals.
The NSX overall share index rose by 3.42% during the week ended 7 August, supported mainly by strong gains in the basic materials and financial sectors.
The NSX Overall Index increased to 2,440.52 points from 2,359.76 points, representing a gain of 80.76 points. The index has risen 13.97% since December 2025.
The basic materials sector recorded the strongest weekly increase, rising 6.35% to 889.82 points from 836.70 points. The sector is now 24.37% higher than its December 2025 level.
Financials also recorded a notable gain, increasing 1.82% to 775.04 points from 761.22 points. The sector has gained 8.61% since December 2025.
Consumer discretionary stocks rose 1.05% to 2,531.19 points, although the sector remains 5.65% below its December 2025 level.
Telecommunications edged up 0.18% to 307.42 points, while the consumer staples sector declined 0.33% to 1,408.40 points.
The real estate sector was among the weaker performers, falling 0.91% to 2,702.39 points. Despite the weekly decline, the sector remains marginally above its December 2025 level, having gained 0.06%.
Utilities were unchanged at 1,084.09 points and are down 2.11% since December 2025.
The local index was largely unchanged, rising 0.05% to 849.91 points from 849.44 points. However, it remains 5.22% higher than its December 2025 level.
The data also shows that the JSE All Share Index rose 5.40% over the period, increasing from 111,493.10 to 117,518.36 points. The index is 1.46% higher than its December 2025 level.
Among the sectors, basic materials recorded the largest increase since December 2025 at 24.37%, followed by financials at 8.61% and consumer staples at 6.78%.
The overall index had a dividend yield of 3.37%, while the local index recorded a dividend yield of 9.52%.
The financial sector had a dividend yield of 5.39%, real estate 5.90%, consumer discretionary 9.14%, telecommunications 9.92%, consumer staples 3.16% and basic materials 0.52%.
