The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) has announced that field staff will no longer visit households to collect data for the Namibia Household Income and Expenditure Survey (NHIES).
The statistician general of the NSA, Alex Shimuafeni, announced this Monday.
“The NSA hereby informs the nation that until the main NHIES survey commences in March 2025, there will no longer be field staff visiting households for NHIES data collection,” he said.
The pilot NHIES survey was launched to test readiness for the upcoming main survey, which is scheduled to start in March 2025.
It started on September 30 and ended on October 20.
According to Shimuafeni, the findings of this survey will not be made available to the public but will only be utilised by the NSA.
This, he said, will help ensure the main survey runs smoothly and collects high-quality data on household income, expenditures, and living conditions across the country.
Shimuafeni acknowledged and thanked all individuals and households for their cooperation during the recently concluded survey.
“We would like to encourage you to do so again next year when the main data collection for the NHIES starts,” he said.
He also thanked alll stakeholders who were involved in supporting the selected areas of the pilot survey.
“The NSA continues to value and appreciate all households that participate in statistical exercises and wishes to encourage all and sundry to continue supporting NSA surveys in the future as well,” he said.
The NSA has advertised 155 vacancies for the NHIES 2025/26.
These include 51 team supervisors, 102 interviewers, and two national IT field technicians.
The vacancies are posted on the NSA website.
