The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has suspended the Namibian Correctional Service Football Club and its senior officials, General Raphael Hamunyela and Absalom Mushaandja, with immediate effect.
NFA Secretary General, Charles Siyauya confirmed the suspension over the weekend, stating that it was imposed under Article 17 (1) of the NFA statutes and will remain in effect until further notice.
As a result, the club and its officials have lost all membership rights as outlined in Article 17 (3) of the NFA statutes, as well as Articles 12 and 14 (3) of the Southern Stream First Division statutes.
āNamibian Correctional Service Football Club, Mr. Mushaandja, and Mr. Hamunyela are therefore no longer entitled to take part in any competitions and/or activities under the jurisdiction of the NFA until the suspension is lifted,ā said Siyauya.
The specific reasons for the suspension remain unclear.
However, NFA Article 21 states that no natural or legal person, including holding companies and subsidiaries, should control more than one club or group of clubs if it could jeopardise the integrity of any match or competition.
Siyauya cautioned all NFA-affiliated division league administrators across the country not to engage in any sporting conduct with the suspended club and its officials while their suspension is in effect.
āFinally, the Executive Council may lift this suspension at any time before the next NFA congress takes place. Should this occur, we will inform you accordingly,ā Siyauya said.
In a related development, the NFA has also suspended northern-based sports administrator Fillipus Mayambi Dala with immediate effect, under Article 17 (1) of the NFA statutes.
He has been stripped of his NFA membership rights and is barred from participating in any football-related activities under the associationās jurisdiction until the suspension is lifted.
