Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) has reiterated its commitment to road safety by pledging N$200,000 to support various initiatives aimed at promoting safe driving practices throughout the country.
This generous contribution includes N$90,000 allocated for refreshments for members of the Namibian Police stationed at roadblocks, as well as contributions to the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund’s (MVA) road safety awareness campaigns.
NBL is not only dedicated to producing quality beer but also advocates for responsible drinking behaviour.
Surihe Gaomas-Guchu, NBL’s Corporate Affairs Manager, emphasized the importance of consuming alcohol responsibly and avoiding drunk driving during the holiday season when many people embark on long-distance journeys.
“Through engaging cultural narratives, we aim to inspire Namibians to be accountable, drink smarter, and drive positive social change,” Gaomas-Guchu said.
The NBL’s campaign encourages consumers to pause and consider the consequences of their actions, particularly the effects of alcohol consumption on their ability to drive safely.
According to Gaomas-Guchu, the N$200,000 donation is a tangible demonstration of NBL’s commitment to promoting road safety in Namibia. The N$90,000 allocated for refreshments for Namibian Police officers stationed at roadblocks serves as a gesture of appreciation for their crucial role in maintaining road safety during the festive season.
In addition to supporting law enforcement efforts, NBL is partnering with the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund of Namibia to raise awareness about road safety. The funds contributed to the MVA Fund will be directed toward educational campaigns and initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents and their associated consequences.
She said the NBL’s proactive approach to road safety aligns with its corporate responsibility values, emphasizing the importance of community well-being.
“By actively promoting responsible drinking and safe driving practices, NBL seeks to contribute to a safer and more responsible society,” she said.
