The Namibia Transport and Allied Workers Union (NATAU) has issued an apology to Paragon Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd and formally withdrawn allegations it previously made against the company.
In a statement dated 23 June 2026, NATAU acknowledged that its earlier claims were factually incorrect and misleading.
The union said the matter had since been resolved through mediation facilitated by the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), adding that the dispute was settled amicably in the spirit of constructive labour relations.
However, in its earlier position before the apology, NATAU had accused the company of deliberately delaying union recognition and undermining workers’ constitutional and statutory rights to choose their representative.
“NATAU will continue to engage in the process and provide all required information for the union to identify the bargaining unit and demonstrate the necessary majority support among employees, as required under constitutional and statutory provisions that protect workers’ right to choose their representative,” the union said at the time.
“Despite this, the company continues to delay recognition and obstruct employees’ constitutional and statutory rights to choose their representative,” it added.
“The public and all stakeholders should be aware that Paragon Investment Holdings is deliberately refusing to respect workers’ rights and the rights accorded to registered trade unions under the laws of Namibia,” NATAU it further stated.
In its latest statement, NATAU admitted that its earlier communication had the potential to damage the reputation of Paragon Investment Holdings and its management, and accepted full responsibility for any embarrassment or harm caused to the company, its shareholders and clients.
The union also committed to maintaining regular and transparent communication going forward to prevent similar incidents in future.
